Getting to Know Me

Let me see, well,  I am spirited, energetic, funny, caring, understanding, and all of those things wrapped into one package I like to call Me. I have spent many years getting to where I am, and where I am is not where I will stay, of this I am certain. It has been said that life is not about the destination, but about the journey. The belief in this has led me to many new discoveries, not only about life, but about myself as well. Each step of my journey brings me closer to who I am, who I am going to be, and who I want to be.

Who I am......
I am 42, a full time employed, full time student, single mother of two amazing boys and let me tell you, they keep me busy and young. It is through my children and their antics that I decided I wanted to be a more well rounded person. I returned to my passion of working in the educational forum (after a 5 year hiatus) and am now an aide with MH kids in one of my local school districts. On top of everything else I have going on in my life, in February of 2008, I decided to head back to college for a degree in education (it's never too late, right?).

Who I am going to be....
When I re-started school in '08, I was reaching for the stars.....I wanted to be a teacher! Over the last 3 years, that has not changed (Oh the sweet smell of success as of this post, I am only 8 months from graduation!!). However, not long into my school experience, I discovered that I would need more credits than I was going to have if I wanted to graduate. I did not like the idea of taking electives that would mean nothing to my overall degree, so upon reflection, I decided to add an additional major (yep, that meant two majors) and started taking Communication classes at Ashford University as that second major!
It is through my communication classes that this blog came to be.

Who I want to be....
I am not anything if not an individual first. While I strive to meet the expectations of others, I have found it is more important and much more fun if I am true to who I am first. Each day I take a step closer to being who I want to be and who the Lord created me to be. In striving to be who I want to be I have learned life is not about where I am going as much as it is about what I am doing as I get there. I like to look at the world as a roller coaster ride, me as the passenger with my hands held up, screaming all the way in joyful glee.

As we peak around corners together and explore, I hope this blog brings you joy and invokes a deeper thought process than when you first arrived. I am a strong believer in learning and there is nothing better than learning with and from others .....what a journey!
